This time I used pastel coloured Designer Paper, to give a soft effect.</p><p><br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMFkCmzWYt4hAJSTAC6sL_3Ql3WG50nNdkX7Am0BrxYi2oVqUqoEQ494aP3XvaiEWE2q2CPW2HJE7FQWW88toI5dOnkuorKDD4eLXxscV5HX4FxTQdjFkxLjQZMc0wM4xMwaKjWY_NDnOH/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="1045" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMFkCmzWYt4hAJSTAC6sL_3Ql3WG50nNdkX7Am0BrxYi2oVqUqoEQ494aP3XvaiEWE2q2CPW2HJE7FQWW88toI5dOnkuorKDD4eLXxscV5HX4FxTQdjFkxLjQZMc0wM4xMwaKjWY_NDnOH/w327-h400/hex+baby-1.jpg" width="327" /></a></div><br /><br /><p></p>Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05689837646012258356noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-899687368552721237.post-80312019813534744732021-09-20T11:38:00.003+10:002021-09-20T15:37:47.725+10:00Christmas Joy<p> Unstampabelle's Challenge #115 is use a stencil background with a salutation. With Christmas cards starting to fill my mind, I decided this was a great opportunity to add another to my stash.</p><p><br /></p><p>I used the poinsettia stencil, masked off about half way, and added the die cut JOY greeting. Very quick, so I'm sure I'll be doing variations of this style again!</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWvYzF4jl9E1IHM7gRL3-880fvQqDhKXfBFmVXyhva6IvPoNSO502E2RjvJ1o4XrJ0EJrohX2unAoVhQp8U0QZxMdOBoNsNTMh7V21mZrmam7mudjRfGYKKR_qVwMTAkVcpCJG9ZhYajXV/s1280/joy.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="1034" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWvYzF4jl9E1IHM7gRL3-880fvQqDhKXfBFmVXyhva6IvPoNSO502E2RjvJ1o4XrJ0EJrohX2unAoVhQp8U0QZxMdOBoNsNTMh7V21mZrmam7mudjRfGYKKR_qVwMTAkVcpCJG9ZhYajXV/w324-h400/joy.jpg" width="324" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05689837646012258356noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-899687368552721237.post-8478003797576335302021-08-16T12:27:00.003+10:002021-08-16T12:37:48.662+10:00All About my Sister<p> I've just caught the post by Vicki for <a href="https://unstampabelleschallenges.blogspot.com/">Unstampabelles</a> - the challenge is called 'All About Me'! Well, instead of a portrait of me, I have opted for a silhouette of my younger sister, created for her at Luna Park when she was about 14. I figure, in place of a photo of me, I couldn't get much closer than my only sister.</p><p style="text-align: left;">I've created this card with an old world feel as this silhouette must be almost 60 years old. I hope I haven't strayed too far from the requirements, but I loved the chance to use this picture again. With a bit more time, I may be able to use the silhouette on a journal cover for her.</p><p><br /></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioMwhDSpwZHc6MQugteR_hoqnsITpcII-eOVQ0Esbnb-7za4U71zbj4pcl6IYHC0Nxd4nxq9gUUfwsSCKOvCYbjJDsGbgFpBpxjsOhchxqBUImsWXtZK6MnO65KFoKp52xTVhgh-yRSPqw/s1280/SDC15040.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="1031" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioMwhDSpwZHc6MQugteR_hoqnsITpcII-eOVQ0Esbnb-7za4U71zbj4pcl6IYHC0Nxd4nxq9gUUfwsSCKOvCYbjJDsGbgFpBpxjsOhchxqBUImsWXtZK6MnO65KFoKp52xTVhgh-yRSPqw/w323-h400/SDC15040.jpg" width="323" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My sister</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p>Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05689837646012258356noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-899687368552721237.post-66559736102591294152021-08-14T12:07:00.003+10:002021-08-14T12:11:57.399+10:00Lockdown projects<p style="text-align: left;">Like so many around the world, we in Victoria have been experiencing long periods of lockdown, as our governments try to capture Covid-19 and keep us safe. The restrictions have been harsh and long (over 200 days in total for us here so far and continuing) so it has been a saviour for me to rediscover an old skill, and learn some new ones. while I was unable to travel or see relatives or friends. One of those past hobbies was crochet - very simple baby blankets or lap rugs. I'm still doing fairly simple rugs, but have learned a few new patterns from youtube, so that they are more interesting to do. Below are some of these rugs.</p><p>These traditional blankets were made for my youngest grandchildren, who live in Queensland but love to be wrapped up and cosy - Lucy (pink) and Georgia (blue) . Update: I had forgotten that I posted these when finished - but hey - they are still part of this story.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjzEQM7dTYWtiz4rK2FM_0qorxd0X8gGP0DLZq75ThkPiUPiWpJcwlOMeXwcif72BbwTm7f5vQhHJAbjABc8uMDdO8Xmt1YpdH_mXlFX7zfQy1tTuUWc6m2iJC7Zpg2mElONfJGFnz8QpF/s1280/pink+rug.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="1280" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjzEQM7dTYWtiz4rK2FM_0qorxd0X8gGP0DLZq75ThkPiUPiWpJcwlOMeXwcif72BbwTm7f5vQhHJAbjABc8uMDdO8Xmt1YpdH_mXlFX7zfQy1tTuUWc6m2iJC7Zpg2mElONfJGFnz8QpF/w400-h300/pink+rug.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDjlNyE2cZmVl0IvHglbJUjwglIc9Or5K5aIWWqRLMIHiDKWLqO6iMwnkigVmbajFGqgOr0UAn8q1Y0iSsTgSdQogXWTjkqj-FvWBQMFWO7emn4TerqEarwf6kutt2tYoNjwteZCQwVBc9/s1280/blue+rug.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="1280" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDjlNyE2cZmVl0IvHglbJUjwglIc9Or5K5aIWWqRLMIHiDKWLqO6iMwnkigVmbajFGqgOr0UAn8q1Y0iSsTgSdQogXWTjkqj-FvWBQMFWO7emn4TerqEarwf6kutt2tYoNjwteZCQwVBc9/w400-h300/blue+rug.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I loved using the 'cake' balls of yarn as there was very little joining to finish off, but the blankets became quite heavy towards the end, so I returned to granny squares, and made the two blankets below. However, a friend then requested a baby boy card, and so I tried the same idea with 'baby colours'. My friend was delighted with the card, so I'm sharing it here for the <a href="http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/2021/03/challenge-434-theme-baby.html">Less is More</a> current challenge, which of course is 'baby'! The very interesting technique is to use a stencil as an embosser - in a similar way to how you would use a die, with the rubber mat. Then Gina suggests you score at 1/2" intervals, creating a wood effect - and finish off with your choice of spongeing. So that's what I did with my first attempt - as you can see below.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu5YAwyjhq7GNvdxgjadk1aQya19KH2SQFZjMZrBYp-0Aw3oKnwSwwcDO8Ky7XWQFEej4Qhx73YDXPArUmRchhA_3MOj2EG5nhXmlMkV-EDbwFGjuNCuIprb9t-xIDMhOBmdLgey3XAgSM/s1280/elf.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="1070" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu5YAwyjhq7GNvdxgjadk1aQya19KH2SQFZjMZrBYp-0Aw3oKnwSwwcDO8Ky7XWQFEej4Qhx73YDXPArUmRchhA_3MOj2EG5nhXmlMkV-EDbwFGjuNCuIprb9t-xIDMhOBmdLgey3XAgSM/w335-h400/elf.jpg" width="335" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It was such fun to make, if a little fiddly - of course I didn't stop with one, as they can be addictive! I honestly don't know what I would have done with the hours of potential boredom if I didn't have my crafts to keep me busy and interested.</p><p>I normally make rugs in a square granny style, but thought I'd try a rectangle - so learned how to start this via youtube - I should have made it longer to start with but that's the learning lesson isn't it? The wool I purchased just before lockdown, as I knew I needed something more than card making to keep me sane - I bought 5 each of the blue and pink shaded balls - giant balls of 200g each.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh078bE_0NZtVSCJRuBTtJTkUkBd9KWZIRpQkAHpvaMO8CM9KKWkD5Kqw3l3-HuaY1Vb4-CjniSWH1Gmwn26kOKUAPorOchyphenhyphencb7lm99F0d31aNGJFIeBVk5S_8A2oRuYDdy1V1LtgI_f6oS/s1280/blue+rug.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="1280" height="375" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh078bE_0NZtVSCJRuBTtJTkUkBd9KWZIRpQkAHpvaMO8CM9KKWkD5Kqw3l3-HuaY1Vb4-CjniSWH1Gmwn26kOKUAPorOchyphenhyphencb7lm99F0d31aNGJFIeBVk5S_8A2oRuYDdy1V1LtgI_f6oS/w500-h375/blue+rug.jpg" width="500" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqjGV0HVPsGbK4wgOHzKy75OBGxICAnBmGLILazn4PLuEo3TYDOgEVU18ig4p3qxt4drNTo3FGaIZjLX7JFa7GZw-1m5rR1B_bfyFhHd57gEBbVXmwpmudf9bDXaW6Fh6iT9LTCXKw0V8i/s1280/pink+rug.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="1280" height="375" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqjGV0HVPsGbK4wgOHzKy75OBGxICAnBmGLILazn4PLuEo3TYDOgEVU18ig4p3qxt4drNTo3FGaIZjLX7JFa7GZw-1m5rR1B_bfyFhHd57gEBbVXmwpmudf9bDXaW6Fh6iT9LTCXKw0V8i/w500-h375/pink+rug.jpg" width="500" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">and of course I couldn't resist making a little card to go with each one!</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnxymFmlgrQJ0hxRCMXxa6N0s22xMORLKJ_fYbGGW_cLD8QUvd6s8hlK6bcXxDdRZe8KLTOKGbphl4Pcud2HyfP7Lqi8iuNCJ91AaZ4AwSbTZPodxX0lhpDcYNo3YyUOW-FxVRYN_H6ACW/s1280/2+rugs+ready.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="1280" height="375" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnxymFmlgrQJ0hxRCMXxa6N0s22xMORLKJ_fYbGGW_cLD8QUvd6s8hlK6bcXxDdRZe8KLTOKGbphl4Pcud2HyfP7Lqi8iuNCJ91AaZ4AwSbTZPodxX0lhpDcYNo3YyUOW-FxVRYN_H6ACW/w500-h375/2+rugs+ready.jpg" width="500" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p>Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05689837646012258356noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-899687368552721237.post-4946652437594986372020-08-14T10:57:00.002+10:002020-08-14T10:57:42.247+10:0070th Birthday card<p> My card today was made for a friend's aunt, who is turning 70. As I'm in Christmas card mode (I'm searching for 'good' reasons to create cards and I give many cards at Christmas time) I hit on Frozen, the film, and there is nothing more magic than a snow covered landscape to me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEWwTNYYXxzm2mCKZzYUKPlmXW0ym-BFdDiqiPNGoInYbXt_duKNFmVURNof2D_cJCcJs7wbuMMqAADAJmNTa1cau3-XhqmgT6b3mctpQz25HN4NyNJjO4iV60Y0PDjEEQh4PXKuxj1S0f/s1600/Frozen-Bambi.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="978" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEWwTNYYXxzm2mCKZzYUKPlmXW0ym-BFdDiqiPNGoInYbXt_duKNFmVURNof2D_cJCcJs7wbuMMqAADAJmNTa1cau3-XhqmgT6b3mctpQz25HN4NyNJjO4iV60Y0PDjEEQh4PXKuxj1S0f/s400/Frozen-Bambi.jpg" width="305" /></a></div>
A bit of spongeing and a couple of die cuts created my magic scene with the theme of Frozen. I hope I haven't stretched the connection too much, but in any case I have another Christmas card completed.Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05689837646012258356noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-899687368552721237.post-79649114399526635812020-06-09T14:45:00.001+10:002020-06-09T14:45:15.560+10:00Sunflower hugs<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A quick card, using a die cut and some pattern paper to create a card which sends a hug.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I sponged the die cut in a tangy sort of brown colour, and chose some pattern paper with similar retro colour to fill the space behind it, and then reset the die back into the card front. Added the word die and some fussy cut leaves and mounted on a Kraft base.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made a card inspired by Connie Stewart yesterday, and once I'd chosen what my 'wings' were going to be - the butterfly - I realised I could use the same layout for this card using blue and white. The paper I chose for my rosette butterfly is variated, so there is a little extra interest in the colour blue.</div>

Hello cards are so useful at this time - I'm sending out quite a few as a way of keeping in touch - phone calls are better, but can take up quite a bit of the day:)</div>

I have attempted Sam's (from Mixed up craft) envelope added to a card (picture to follow) but when I saw on Pinterest a card that simply used an envelope ON a card, well, I thought why not give this a try? I did, and this is my result - a 5 x 7" card.</div>

My original envelope card is here:</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This card is an envelope BOX card and would require a box to post it or you have to deliver it by hand. Of course it packs more of a punch, because it took 3 times as long to make! But I think for the more everyday lovely card, the top one is worth trying!</div>

I've just received the background stamp in the mail, and just happened to have the lovely lady die cut on my desk, so this is what I made! The lovely lines of the lady are enough, in my opinion, so I kept the background to a monotone, just enough to add depth to the picture.</div>

I have always found the sentiment 'showered with love' so beautiful, with its connotations of sheltering someone with your love, an over-abundance of love being showered on someone, and of course, the showers that are precursors of bright flowers and happier times. So when I saw Darnell's twofer this morning, for the challenge 'umbrella and/or rain' and having one card already made that qualified, I set to to create another card so that I could enter for the first time. </div>

A very dear friend and her lovely husband, will be celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary later this week. Sadly we aren't able to visit them, as they are very sensibly self isolating, as are we - so I've attempted this envelope board box card. There is an opening card behind this front. I hope I'm able to send it safely - but will find a box to fit it. I would love to make a box for it, but I don't have card large enough - thanks to Sam of <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRuQxAa6h7s">Mixed Up Craft</a> for the tutorial. I know I'm rubbish at arranging flowers, but think it'll be OK.</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRUhgfsoL6n6bTwTb-C0JPredNANuQDryjVqH5Oggak8WNiI8gWOdgX5_UtwRICsGbanIGoVSJIRhKpcdCFjP6BSZuAAa_8WN7V9syma_N2wwFcIjf70yj3WiJDUrdqJxUOi2Ut12_tIZJ/s1600/pet+loves+circle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="960" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRUhgfsoL6n6bTwTb-C0JPredNANuQDryjVqH5Oggak8WNiI8gWOdgX5_UtwRICsGbanIGoVSJIRhKpcdCFjP6BSZuAAa_8WN7V9syma_N2wwFcIjf70yj3WiJDUrdqJxUOi2Ut12_tIZJ/s320/pet+loves+circle.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I created a stencil for my circle shape, using a circle die to cut a plastic folder cover. I try to cut the plastic to my card size for better placement. I'm happy with this card:) The words were cut from a larger die cut, which read: Do what you love. Very handy!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGKhnvjtDP2Qn6Hs8pQp5-05QyDleZTZB3LZRKMu-TfOCQgNEtXct3yU9jTpz6tDEV7lwKr46Uj3RsTS8AkuNY3je9LWxpstcdx3kOYlWXEVMAsaeEDAbnY3XLmu35ukYsJjKg9KWfri7I/s1600/pet+loves+lg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="960" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGKhnvjtDP2Qn6Hs8pQp5-05QyDleZTZB3LZRKMu-TfOCQgNEtXct3yU9jTpz6tDEV7lwKr46Uj3RsTS8AkuNY3je9LWxpstcdx3kOYlWXEVMAsaeEDAbnY3XLmu35ukYsJjKg9KWfri7I/s320/pet+loves+lg.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was my first effort at using the cut dog and cat - but somehow I feel it looks too contrived - perhaps there is just too much space around the focus. The sentiment is from an old Stampin' Up! set and reads: with you .... is my favourite place to be. Isn't that lovely?</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Such a hot day yesterday, so perfect excuse to stay in my air conditioned craft room, and make a selection of 'masculine' Valentine cards.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The split heart die needed 5 different papers, so that meant I could make 5 cards! I've not photographed the fifth card - don't know why - but I'll add it to the end of the post. I chose these bolder colours, rather than the softer, prettier tones usually used for valentine cards, because I thought males might appreciate the style of these more - what do you think?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

We are very happy for her!<br />

I love using the heart shaped rosette for feminine cards - and the colours of white, pink and gold were requested by my daughter who ordered this card. I'm very happy with it and hope Kyra loves it too.Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05689837646012258356noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-899687368552721237.post-88667117408012140482019-12-20T11:43:00.000+11:002019-12-20T11:43:14.726+11:00Ballet girls<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My card for today is one I've made as a request for a little dancer who is turning 4. The three girls are dies, and there is an extra shape to create the skirts. To coordinate the tops, I just coloured the tops in a singlet shape to match. I had a lot of fun creating this card and the buyer was very happy with it too!</div>

And if you can see the subtle 95 on the bottom right corner, you'll realise how special this card is! I used some beautiful Christine Re paper and a design by Sam Clayton of Mixed Up Craft. It's called an Arrow card and to make it display better, I add a stand to the back so it tilts back slightly and shows off the front better. I've made quite a few of these this year, and they all look pretty special.</div>

I'm not yet showing the more personal cards as they haven't been sent but these are the 'fun' cards I've enjoyed making.<br />

Almost a year ago, I was informed that my blog platform was no longer supported, and I believed that I could no longer post, but coming back in through blogger.com I am able to access it - as I am now. This makes me very happy - as I didn't want to lose all those posts, which in a way, were like a personal diary - albeit only about card making!<br />
<br />
So for anyone visiting, here is a new card - an 80th birthday card for an elegant lady of 80.<br />
<br />
It is an A4 size folded in half, and there are lots of layers, but the main background is a free image found on google.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you see this post, I'd love to know so I can thank you! Please leave a comment and I'll happily respond.</div>
