Lots of 'not' white space

This week's Less is More challenge is to use lots of white space, except it is not to be white.  In other words, lots of open space in a colour other than white!

I have been entering the Less is More challenges for some time, in order to stretch my skill in creating Clean and Simple (CAS) cards, and I have to say I love the results that can be achieved by adhering to the modern, clean lines of this style.  The LIM DTs inspirations are no exception, and their cards can be found here.

I have been busy making little 4 x 4" note cards, which I intend to send out to members of our Probus Club, who perhaps haven't been feeling on top of the world lately, for whatever reason.  I figured the 'For You' sentiment could be suitable for most of these, so have made a start using this lovely rose stamped on watercolour paper, white heat embossed and coloured with Distress Inks.  My other cards just use the 3.75" panel adhered directly to the 4 x 4" cards, but for this challenge, I trimmed my panel to fit the bottom of this purple card, leaving lots of purple open space!

Card recipe:
Stamp:  SU - Birthday Blooms
Ink:  Ranger distress inks:  Seedless Preserves, Wilted Violet, Mowed Lawn, Versamark.
Paper:  300 gsm Watercolour paper
White embossing powder

  1. What a pretty card. I love the stamped flower and the sequins that link the two parts of the card. Whoever receives this will definitely feel lifted :)
