Scrapbook Boutique August Challenge and Blog Hop

Welcome once again to Scrapbook Boutique's monthly challenge and blog hop.  You should have arrived here from Angela's amazing blog but if you didn't and want to start at the beginning, just click on the SBB blog link above and start again!

Once again we have a gorgeous mood board to inspire you:

Isn't this board just so delicious!  I love strong greens and that dramatic chartreuse colour, though sadly I can never wear it:(

I have been quiet on my blog for a little while, and so for this challenge, I dived right in, and created not one, but three cards!

But first to the housekeeping part of this blog - if you want to create something or just join in to win, there are two ways you can participate in this challenge and have a chance to win a prize.  You can comment on each blog, ending with the SBB blog, or you can create a project (either a card, scrapbook layout or off the page project) inspired by this photo.  Of course you can do both for a chance to win both prizes!  Please check out the rules of entry, and the prizes at the Scrapbook Boutique Blog and note that this challenge is now open to New Zealand residents as well as Australian.

So firstly, my main card created especially for the challenge:
a very literal interpretation of the bokeh lights and leaves, which were die cut from watercolour paper smooshed with Distress Inks.  The bokeh was created by sponging inside punched circle shapes with the same Distress inks.

A sentiment (from Polynesian Paradise) was white embossed on vellum to maintain the very soft style.

I loved the yellowy green cardstock I had created so much, and thought my left over watercolour paper could be used on a Christmas tree, so this is my second card - the tree is one of the images in the MFT stamp set:  'Santa's Elves'.  I added a starry die cut feature with more green inlaid in the stars, and some sparkle glitter adhered to the small circles.  I also picked up the grey with my base card and cut circle.  I quite like the non-traditional colour scheme of this card:)

I admit this card is a bit OTT - but I loved the shawl on the board, with its muted pattern and fringe catching the sunlight, so created this card, which also uses succulents featured in the mood board - the succulents are from Mama Elephant: 'Potted Pretties'.  I pleated some organza ribbon as a hint to the fringe.  As I say, a bit over the top, but hey, I thought I'd give it a try.  The stitched lines die cut panel is by an Australian crafter - and can be found at My Little Paper World.

I can't wait to see what you create for this challenge - each month the entries are just amazing and we love to see how everyone seems to take something unique from the mood board.

Now you should hop on over to Linda's fantastic blog!

Thanks for visiting and happy crafting!
