Simon Says Stamp blog

Image
On the last Wednesday of the month, SSS blog is hosting a 'Work It Wednesday' spot, open to all,  to show what we have been working on.  This month, following SSS new releases, we are to use a SSS product.  I have a card here that I made this week for the current Muse challenge, but I was a little too late to meet their deadline.  It uses the SSS set called Thinking of You.  I really like the mix of fonts, and so many elements in the set which can be used in countless ways.  The simple line of circles is used to create a rainbow pattern, but it also includes solid and outline flowers, an arrow (so on trend) and leaves and stems.  I love my new stamp set!

Less is More #160

The recipe for this week's challenge at LIM  is to use something made from metal.  What luck then, that when I was shopping at the Papercraft Show over the weekend, I picked up a couple of small metal doily shapes and voila!  here is my entry: I have chosen a strong colour combination, as I felt it was needed to complement the metal, and have used textured gold paper and aqua cardstock.  The flower was cut from a Memory Box die - Tilda swirl, and the metal shape sits beautifully as its centre.  I used a MFT die for the chevron border, and enamel dots by Studio Calico.  The perfectly simple sentiment is by Simon Says.

Scrapbook Boutique - February Challenge

Image
February Challenge at Scrapbook Boutique is so topical, with this love themed yummy picture to inspire us. I was inspired by the love theme too, and the pink colours, for my creation.  I know there are a few of these around, but I first saw them demonstrated on Splitcoastampers, and just knew I had to try the technique.  The boxes fold flat, for postage, but open up like this to stand like a box.  I have two little grand-daughters in the US, so thought they would love to receive a 'love' box card for Valentines Day - they are up to their necks in snow at the moment, hence the snow images.  One card even has a little puppy being taken for a walk - you can only see the tips of his ears, and his tail!  So cute!  The images are from Mos Digi Pencil - super!  I've also added a little 'key to my heart' banner by Stampin' Up!  The snow girls are coloured with Copics. I think they will like them - ...

One Layer Card

Image
I woke this morning to a 30C windy morning (not pleasant at all as the wind is even hotter) and checked out this week's challenge over at Less is More.   It is an anything goes, one layer challenge, so I am entering this card: I don't often make one layer cards, but with this beautiful deckle-edged platemarked card base, I felt this was the perfect occasion to do so.  I like the soft water-colour effect of colouring the stamp with markers, lightly spritzing with water and stamping.  No sentiment yet, as I will probably add that when I need to send it.  I did add some stickles for interest .... The stamp is by Gina K from the Hello Sunshine set, and the little butterfly is from the Petals and Wings set.

Stampin' Up! and Pinterest

Image
My card today is a CASE from Pinterest - I pinned this card ,  because I love the simplicity of it - and here is my version: I have been collecting some paint card samples both for some painting (our grandson now enjoys a classy grey, white and red bedroom - perfect for a cool teenager!) and because I like to check out the latest colour ranges.  I used a green palette chart for my card, cut a Memory Box leaf die from a grassy green colour, and punched my squares from three other charts, then stamped a butterfly from the SU! Papillon Potpourri stamp set and coloured it with Copics.  I also used a Stampin' Up! background stamp - Hardwood - for the popped up base - stamped with Distress Ink bundled sage.  The understated sentiment is by Studio Calico.  I like this typewriter font for a non-gender specific card.  You can't see it, but Wink of Stella on the butterfly gives it the perfect amount of shine.
