Little Gift Boxes

Image
A quick post to show these cute little boxes I made up following Sam's instructions on Mixedupcraft - I won't give details as I followed her video to the letter, so if you like making boxes, check out her video tutorial here . Here are my boxes - they are so cute! I love how well the lid fits over the box, and how sturdy they are considering they are just made out of paper.

Christmas Rose

Image
I believe I have finished my Christmas cards - well, I say believe, because I really thought I had but my daughter called by yesterday to see if I had 8 spare cards for her coworkers - all men!  So we started together and had them done an hour later - I'll post those pics at the bottom. Anyway, as I believe I've now finished with the Christmas products, I decided to stamp up the Altenew Christmas Rose - we call them Hellebores, because of course they are a winter flower, and our Christmas is in summer.  But I was in the mood for some pale, pastel colours so I set to try out the new stamp, cut them out with matching dies, and in no time had a card finished on my desk.  This stamp is a two-step (or 3 if you count the centre) and looks so pretty clustered together as a bunch.  I really like that there are two sizes of leaves too! I finish the inside of the card with another flower spray.   The sentiment is by Stampin Up - Birthday Blossoms Here are the Ch

Less is More - one layer #358

Image
The latest challenge at   Less is More is the one layer challenge, with the theme of candles or something depicting light.  Perfect for one more Christmas card I thought, so found some time to make this CAS card.  The silver heat embossed sentiment is difficult to see, so I have included this extra photo for detail. I used Zig watercolour markers for the colouring, not using very much water as it was heat embossed on regular card.  I'm afraid the spongeing around the image is a little heavier than I wanted, but doesn't seem too bad when looking at the card in its entirety.  I should have remembered that Less is More!

21st masculine birthday

This card is for a friend's grandson - he has already travelled a bit, so hence the world theme. Colour medium used is Color Burst powders - and then some gold paint swished over at the end.  I saw the technique demonstrated by Heather Telford recently, and the idea is to have the colour very wet to move the colour around, but you must dry each layer before adding the next.  It's a fun method, though I haven't done it justice as this is my first attempt, but I will certainly be trying it again. The number dies are by Stampin' Up! - Large Numbers - I love these dies! The 'world' die is unnamed - it isn't specifically the world, so makes an interesting focal point.

Less is More Colour Challenge

Image
Wow!  It's been ages since I've entered into the Less is More challenge, even though I visit often!  This week I seem to have found some time and I'm entering this simple CAS card for the colour challenge - red and green!  How appropriate as we are all trying hard to complete enough cards to send out, without having to resort to buying any. Stencil:  Simon Says Stamp - from an old kit from 2014 Sentiment:  Stampin' Up! Merriest Wishes stamp set Embellishment:  Ranger enamel dots

Spectacular!

Just a quick post to share a card I have just finished for a friend - for her friend, who is turning 70 and loves live shows! It had to be a 'special' card, as the friend is not too well, so I tried to challenge my inner show-biz qualities (sadly lacking I'm afraid!  Though my late mum had performed at the Palladium in London in her day. her talents passed me by!) I've used the stamp Oh La La by Caravelle Studio for the performer, some texts by Stampin' Up! and I drew the bill board by hand and decorated it with stars and dots.  The large numerals are heat embossed and die cut and they are also from Stampin' Up!  The card is A5 size, as it really needed to be larger than usual to fit everything into it!  I had great fun making this card, so I hope 'Judy' knows how much her friend is thinking of her when she finally receives it.

Trick or Treat

Image
A quick post to share some Halloween boxes I made to send to our youngest grand-daughters who used to love Halloween when they lived in the States.  I hope they like the treats inside these boxes/cards.  I have CASed the idea from Sam from Mixed Up Craft - it opens like a card, but with the box behind and kept closed with the belly band.  Sam has wonderful projects to share, so please check out her youtube and blog!

Monster Birthday

Image
The theme for this week's challenge at Less is Mor e is Monsters!  I have ordered some monster dies, but they wouldn't arrive in time, so I returned to an old stamp from Annabelle Stamps - Monster Birthday!  I love this old friend of mine, so here is my card. The dies that have already arrived however, were the paint splats, so they were added to my little monster to create this monster birthday card!

Stars

Image
This week at Less is More challenge number 350 is a one-layer card with the theme of Stars. I'm caught up with making Christmas cards at the moment, as I expect many of you are, so I thought of this challenge as an opportunity to make another card for my Christmas stash. My  lovely star came as a free gift with the magazine Cardmaking in Easy Steps Issue 17, which is at least a year old I think.  I white heat embossed the stamped star, heat set it, then used a star frame lit by Stampin' Up! to dry emboss around the shape.  Difficult to see I know, but in real life, it does add a little something.  The sentiment is an old Verve stamp and the little cluster of stars is from SU Year of Cheers stamp set. Ink for spongeing:  Distress Oxide:  Cracked Pistachio, Broken China and Wilted Violet.

Hot and Spicy - Less is More challenge #349

Image
Challenge #349 at Less is More  is a colour one - the theme is Hot and Spicy!  What fun!  I was thinking food of course, then Mexico, fiestas and the colours so predominant there - red, orange, green - hot and spicy colours.   So coming from that perspective, here is my card: We can get pretty hot and steamy in Australia of course, but the spice really says Mexico to me.
