Scrapbook Boutique May Blog Hop and Challenge

Image
Welcome to another blog hop and challenge at Scrapbook Boutique - this month it is based on this amazing mood board! You should have arrived here from  Angela's  lovely blog. What a beautiful collection of images, celebrating motherhood, new babies and all things girly! I just love to make 'new baby' cards, and was inspired by the little ballet shoes and dress to embellish my card with the tulle ribbon.  I also loved the metallic letters, but thought silver was a softer option than gold with pink, so kept to the silver dots on my pattern paper, as well as the silver twine.  I created my own background with a little strip of hearts from a Lawn Fawn set called Into the Woods.  Now for a close-up, to catch that sparkle! I hope you are inspired to create something after seeing this mood board and if you do, or if you just want to join in, there are two ways you can participate in this challenge and have a chance to win a prize.  You...

A Tag is in the recipe

Image
This week's challenge at Less is More  has the recipe to include a tag in your project.  I love using tags, and this is what I came up with. I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, but I see that I am one day too late!  I have a new computer and have spent a day getting my head around the new organisation that occurred with the latest update, so have missed the deadline!   However, the card is still in time for LIM - stamp from Simon Says Stamp:   Cups and Succulents, coloured with  Copics, and the tag cut with WPlus9 Timeless Tags 2 set. Congratulations Sarah, on being 'peep in chief' over at LIM - I'm sure it is in safe hands!

Happy Birthday to Less is More - 4 years old and thriving!

Less is More is celebrating 4 years this week - congratulations to everyone involved in this great challenge site!  May you continue for many years to come.   This week's challenge is a colour combo - pink and grey - a lovely combination! My card was inspired by Debbie Hughes' tag card for Clearly Besotted - so soft and subtle and dreamy.  Please check her card out here  as it is just so lovely!  Of course, I didn't have any of the products she used, so hunted around my supplies for a suitable flower image and beyond that, I pretty well CASED her layout completely!  My flower (Gina K design) is white heat embossed on vellum, and I chose to colour the back of it with a soft pink copic marker.  My die cut tag is stamped with a background stamp by Kaisercraft in Fog ink by Simon Says Stamp and the cluster is grouped on a stitched journal tag by Lawn Fawn cut from paper from my stash.  The background is a chevron ef by Stampin' Up! and some SSS w...

Sketch Challenge

Image
This week at  Less is More  it is a sketch challenge - my favourite challenges! Yay - or more appropriately, WooHoo! - because that is my sentiment from the cute Itty Bitty stamp by Unity. I have coloured this owl with watercolours, added some sparkle to his chest, then cut him out using a tag die by Lawn Fawn (Stitched Journalling tag) and set him on a strip of woodgrain paper from my stash.  I needed the sentiment to be against the paper for effect, so moved it to the top of my card.  I'm so glad I had time to enter this week's challenge, as we have been so busy welcoming our daughter home (2000km round trip by plane) and tomorrow we are off to visit my sister-in-law after a family bereavement (1600km round trip by car) - all in a little over a week!  Making this little card is just the grounding I need at this time.  Maybe I'll take some watercolouring supplies with me on our next trip - I'm really hooked!
