Scrapbook Boutique September challenge and blog hop

Welcome once again to  Scrapbook Boutique's  monthly challenge and blog hop.  You should have arrived here from  Angela's  amazing blog but if you didn't and want to start at the beginning, just click on the SBB blog link above and start again!   We want to challenge you to create something inspired by this pretty mood board - this is what I created this month: Obviously inspired by the balloons, but also the soft sky, the person swept up and away by the balloons, and the birthday wishes. I sponged distress ink through a sun ray stencil I created on the silhouette a while ago. I covered an all-over cloud stencil with several post it notes, leaving just one cloud so that I could place my clouds exactly where I wanted them.  The white heat-embossed balloons were coloured with Zig Clean Colour Real Brush markers (with no water added because it was normal cardstock). Now to the housekeeping part - if you want to cr...

Thinking of You

Image
Just had a little time to enter into the  Less is More   challenge this week, with their colour challenge being Fire. I just couldn't resist trying some distress ink 'smooshing' onto watercolour paper to create my fire colour panel from which to die cut some never before used feather dies - the large one is by Hot off the Press, and the smaller one is from Simon Says Stamp.  Because I also had a matching stamp, I tried gold embossing one of the feathers, but it covered up too much of that beautiful colour, so I partially hid it behind.  Love the fire-coloured feathers - perhaps they belong to a tropical bird? Sentiment:  Annabelle Stamps 'Fanciful Flowers', linen twine by SU and enamel dots by MME, stitched panel from the Basic Set by ME.

Foliage

This week at Less is More   it is a One Layer Card challenge, with the theme of Foliage.  That is a lovely choice, no doubt influenced by the coming Autumn in the northern hemisphere, but a great choice for all seasons just the same.  However, my card does reflect autumn, a beautiful time of year in our neck of the woods (Victoria, Australia) with its more consistent weather, clear skies and yes, we do have autumn foliage here.  I was influenced in my choice for this card by the beautiful inspiration from the DTs, and used a homemade stencil for my leaves, stamped with Distress Ink - shabby shutters, scattered straw and spiced marmalade.  The stencil is the negative from a Memory Box die, and the sentiment is from Stampin' Up! Wetlands stamp set - an absolute favourite, though this is the first time I have used this sentiment.  Poor photography in the late afternoon has cast some shadow on my card, which looks more wobbly than it does in real life...
