Stencilling

I have a couple of cards I've made using MFT Basic Shapes -Triangles - stencil and various Distress Oxide inks.  I have a card on Scrapbook Boutique blog too, but couldn't stop at one, I was having such fun with those triangles! The first two cards were my first attempts using Distress Oxide colours of Broken China, Twisted Citron and Spiced Marmalade - they look great together! For this last card I used white ink on kraft card, and I also thought I needed a smaller triangle to complete my pattern, so cut one out of spare acetate for my last row of grey triangles. I hope you find time to pop over to the Scrapbook Boutique blog to see the card I have featured there!

Scrapbook Boutique October blog hop and challenge

Wow!  Where has the year gone already?  We will soon be caught up with the 'busyness' of Christmas, summer and holidays no doubt, so I'm happy to welcome you to this month's Blog Hop and Challenge at Scrapbook Boutique - let's have fun while we can! You should have arrived here from  Angela's  amazing blog but if you didn't and want to start at the beginning, just click on the SBB blog link above and start again!   Here is this month's gorgeous mood board, to inspire you!  It may be the butterflies, the colours, the designs - whatever takes your fancy!  I love using butterflies in my cards, so I was very happy with this challenge!  I was inspired by the idea of drifts of butterflies and those lovely pink colours! To create my stencil for the background butterflies, I punched from acetate a small butterfly using a Martha Stewart punch, and sponged the negative space with Distress Inks - either Spun Sugar or Worn Lipstick, movin...

Another one layer card for LIM for this week's challenge - this time to use geometrics!  A great theme, and I do have lots of ideas for this one, but with very limited time and supplies still constraining me, I opted to use a MFT stencil to produce these two very quick, clean and simple cards. I used masking to keep my border straight for this card, but for the one below, I just started at the centre and worked my way out, ensuring to leave plenty  of white space.  I used Distress Inks and a finger dauber to apply my ink. This week it is a one-layer challenge at Less is More with the criteria TWO.  There were some beautiful examples by the DTs as usual, but I didn't have much time to search for that special image I thought was needed.  Instead, I chose to do a stencil image, and here is my card. I saw Jennifer McGuire demonstrate this technique on youtube - do check it out here as her result is stunning!  Sadly, I don't own a stencil as interesting as hers, so I used the chevron one I did have, made a star stencil from a punch, and stamped the sentiment by Stampin Up! and the snow flakes from Gorgeous Grunge.  I am thinking now that I should have added decorations, but my first thought was that they are in the snow, so who would be decorating trees out there?  Goodness knows why I thought I had to be realistic - this is card-making isn't it :)  This is a great technique, however, and well worth trying with various shapes. I have been alerted to the current challeng...
