Less is More Lucky Dip #226

Image
Luckily for me, I can still enter this week's challenge at Less is More, as the Lucky Dip this week is '2 legs or 4' .  Luckily for me, I have just made a couple of cards using a gorgeous giraffe image (last time I checked they did have 4 legs, as well as that long neck!) so I thought I ought to enter!  My entry is a tad more CAS than my other card, so after misconstruing last week's instructions (my bad), I'm hoping to be better behaved this week lol!  Stamp is by Unity - doesn't that giraffe have the sweetest face?

Less is More - Metal!

Image
Another challenge from Less is More - this week it is to use some metal.  I have been really busy, lately and didn't think I'd have time to join in this week, but I have just managed it, I think - though I probably won't be back for a couple of weeks, as I really will be too busy then! As I was tidying my desk (aren't we forever doing that?) I spied a new sentiment I bought recently (by Kaisercraft), and realised it was perfect to go with my stash of Stampin' Up! bows I made a while ago.  I used metallic paper - I think of it as a tradie's pattern as it is often seen on utility trucks used by tradesmen.  I hope that is enough metal for this challenge!  I've had to take the photo late at night, in order to meet the deadline, so neither the shine on the embossed sentiment nor on the paper shows in this light.  Trust me, it's very shiny!

Craft room for Live Love Cards

Image
I feel brave enough to post a picture of my craft room as it is now - far from perfect, but a perfectly happy space for me to be.  I will be uploading these pics to Darlene's new blog:  Live Love Cards as that is what I do most of the time - live, love cards!  And my darling husband and family too of course!  I share my craft space with my husband, who has the other half of the room, with a desk and computer and household files - his side is red and white, so I made mine predominantly pink and white!  I am loathe to get rid of the comfy couch in pic #1, as we both sit there to discuss important things. As I said, this is far from perfect, and truthfully, this is not all of it, as I have seeped into the spare bedroom to store my dies and Big Shot - I hope one day to store everything in one room.  I do enjoy seeing everyone's craft space, and that is the only reason I am sharing mine.

One Layer Card - Water - at Less is More

Image
This week the focus is on Water at Less is More for their One Layer challenge.  There were some beautiful inspiration cards on the DTs blogs! I used the stamp Trickling Water from Designs by Ryn - an unusual image, which I bought when I thought I could incorporate it into some Mixed Media, but I haven't used it in that way - yet! I masked the rectangle on my card - white heat embossed the image, then masked the drops of water so that I could sponge the area with DI - Broken China, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and Mowed Lawn.  I sprinkled drops of water for splatter, and then coloured over the trickles with Glossy Accents, which hasn't shown in my photo but looks great IRL.  The sentiment is by Annabelle Stamps.  I used a SU piercing template to pierce around my rectangle.  I have already sent this card off to the dear husband of a friend of mine, who is not too well at present.  I hope trickling water doesn't have any sublimal meaning I'm unaware of - I just th

May Blog Hop and Challenge at Scrapbook Boutique

Image
Hey there!  Welcome to another blog hop and challenge at Scrapbook Boutique! There are two ways you can participate in this fun challenge, and have a chance to win a prize:  you can comment on each blog, ending with the SBB blog, or you can create a project (either a card, scrapbook layout or off the page project) inspired by this photo.  Of course you can do both for a chance to win both prizes!  Please check out the rules of entry, and the prizes at the  Scrapbook Boutique Blog  and note that this challenge is only open to Australian residents. You should have arrived here from  Angela's  blog. Here is this month's inspiration picture  Just look at all that yumminess! I just couldn't go past the beautiful gold butterfly, the delicate pink zig-zags of the cake wrapper, and the soft romantic feel of this photo, so decided to create a wedding card with the Water Blooms stamp set by Mama Elephant. I used texture paste tinted with pale pink distress

Colour challenge

Image
This week at Less is More , the challenge is to use colour - opposites on the colour wheel. I chose turquoise and orange for my opposing colours for my entry card, using masked spongeing plus SU butterfly thinlets and Papillon Potpourri stamps.  The sentiment is by Inspired by Stamping:  Fancy Sentiments  I am adding the card below to my post, but not my entry, as I don't think it is CAS enough, and it also uses an extra colour - green.  However, the purple and lemon are opposing colours, so it is connected lol! The pansy is made using Sizzix die by Susan Tierney-Cockburn, and the oval frame is by Lea'bilities. Thanks for coming by!
