Freshly Made Sketches #322

Image
Today I am entering the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches #322   for the first time!  I follow Narelle Farrugia, and often Pin her cards and the sketch, but this time I felt I should actually enter too:) I made this card yesterday for a friend about to undergo an operation, and as you can see, it complies with the sketch perfectly! My products are from everywhere - My Favourite Things - Beautiful Butterflies for the watercoloured stamps, but as I didn't own the accompanying die, I used a Memory Box die for a rough outline, then trimmed it a little to look better.  I used a variety of Distress Inks for the colour.  The scalloped frame is from my stash, popped up with foam,  and the sentiment is by Clearly Besotted.  Some Ranger Enamel dots have been added. I hope to be able to enter this challenge again soon!

So what will you make inspired by these soft pastel colours?  I was thinking Easter, so this is what I...

Scrapbook Boutique October blog hop and challenge

Wow!  Where has the year gone already?  We will soon be caught up with the 'busyness' of Christmas, summer and holidays no doubt, so I'm happy to welcome you to this month's Blog Hop and Challenge at Scrapbook Boutique - let's have fun while we can! You should have arrived here from  Angela's  amazing blog but if you didn't and want to start at the beginning, just click on the SBB blog link above and start again!   Here is this month's gorgeous mood board, to inspire you!  It may be the butterflies, the colours, the designs - whatever takes your fancy!  I love using butterflies in my cards, so I was very happy with this challenge!  I was inspired by the idea of drifts of butterflies and those lovely pink colours! To create my stencil for the background butterflies, I punched from acetate a small butterfly using a Martha Stewart punch, and sponged the negative space with Distress Inks - either Spun Sugar or Worn Lipstick, movin...

Another one layer card for LIM for this week's challenge - this time to use geometrics!  A great theme, and I do have lots of ideas for this one, but with very limited time and supplies still constraining me, I opted to use a MFT stencil to produce these two very quick, clean and simple cards. I used masking to keep my border straight for this card, but for the one below, I just started at the centre and worked my way out, ensuring to leave plenty  of white space.  I used Distress Inks and a finger dauber to apply my ink. Card recipes:   Stencil:  MFT Abstract Ink:  Distress Inks - #1 - Carved Pumpkin, Abandoned Coral, Festive Berries. #2 Cracked Pistachio, Salty Ocean and Seedless Preserves Sentiments:  by Stampin' Up! - Botanicals for You, Hello

Words, words and more words ...

I don't know what it is about the latest challenge # 191 at Less is More  this week, but each morning I have woken with a new idea in my head.  I will, however, only be entering this first card, but I had fun trying to make my ideas work.  I failed miserably with my final idea this morning, which was to use my Portrait (very new and I have no idea of graphics!!) to create a design which resembled the iPhone app called Word Storm.  I did manage to create an octagon, then a border around it, and then the 8 sections, but when I added the small octagon in the centre, I realised I still did not know how to remove the crossed lines in the centre shape.  Oh dear, back to the drawing board, or to the internet to search for lessons, but I had fun trying to solve my problems.  If anyone reading this could point me in the right direction for good lessons, I would be most grateful. Now to my actual entry - this is a little 'Itty Bitty' by Unity Stamps Co - heat embos...
