Opposites Attract

Image
Quick post to make it to Challenge #315 at Less is More this week - a one-layer card with the theme: Opposites Attract.  I just love this image of 'opposites' don't you?  I used my Misti on this card, and when my colouring was finished, I re-stamped with Versafine Onyx black for a sharper edge.  I like the effect - thanks to fellow crafters who have suggested doing this!  Oh, I should mention that on my first attempt, I re-stamped my coloured image, but the paper had just moved a little - oops!  Still, worth a try if you like a defined edge - just ensure your card is back in place carefully. Welcome to the June blog hop and challenge at Scrapbook Boutique:) You should have arrived here from  Angela's  fun blog. With the start of winter, we have a striking mood board to inspire you!   Isn't this stunning! Before I post my card, inspired by the black and white, and that barcode-looking image, let's find out how to join in this challenge. If you are inspired to create something or just want to join in to win, there are two ways you can participate in this challenge and have a chance to win a prize.  You can comment on each blog, ending with the SBB blog, or you can create a project (either a card, scrapbook layout or off the page project) inspired by this photo.  Of course you can do both for two chances to win!  Please check out the rules of entry, and the prizes at the  Scrapbook Boutique Blog  and note that this challenge is open to Australian and New Zealand residents. A Cool Guy

Image
The One Layer Challenge at Less is More this week has a masculine theme which is great, because I mostly need to be encouraged to make masculine cards - they don't come all that naturally! I black heat embossed my image and sentiment onto watercolour card, and used SU inks - crushed curry, coral calypso and pool party to complete the minimal water colouring needed. Stamps:  Image and sentiment by Unity, plus a long stamp from Work of Art (SU) Ink:  Stampin' Up! Now I'm off to see what wonderful cards have been contributed this week! Thanks for visiting!

Less is More Lucky Dip #226

Image
Luckily for me, I can still enter this week's challenge at Less is More, as the Lucky Dip this week is '2 legs or 4' .  Luckily for me, I have just made a couple of cards using a gorgeous giraffe image (last time I checked they did have 4 legs, as well as that long neck!) so I thought I ought to enter!  My entry is a tad more CAS than my other card, so after misconstruing last week's instructions (my bad), I'm hoping to be better behaved this week lol!  Stamp is by Unity - doesn't that giraffe have the sweetest face?

Happy Birthdays for the New Year

Image
Welcome to 2015 everyone, with hopes that this year is full of happiness, laughter, love and good health for you all! I have cards for two birthdays in January, and my first card today is for a friend whose style is quite minimalist.  I took my cue from Less is More challenge  week 205, which is 'black, metallic + one' meaning one more colour.  With my friend in mind, I searched my stamps for something that would suit - plenty there, but the decision is never easy, is it? I decided on scribble flowers from the Simon Says Stamp set 'Favourite Flowers' with the scribbly part heat embossed in black first, and the colour, Stampin' Up! Pool Party, stamped after.  The sentiment is also by SSS, from 'Greetings and Succulents' heat embossed in the metallic element, Ranger Liquid Platinum.  I just love this colour!  The little enamel bow is by MME. As my eldest grand-daughter is 15 on the same day as my friend, I have included her card as well, as it i...
