A Tag is in the recipe

Image
This week's challenge at Less is More  has the recipe to include a tag in your project.  I love using tags, and this is what I came up with. I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, but I see that I am one day too late!  I have a new computer and have spent a day getting my head around the new organisation that occurred with the latest update, so have missed the deadline!   However, the card is still in time for LIM - stamp from Simon Says Stamp:   Cups and Succulents, coloured with  Copics, and the tag cut with WPlus9 Timeless Tags 2 set. Congratulations Sarah, on being 'peep in chief' over at LIM - I'm sure it is in safe hands!

Up Up and Away!

Week 220 at Less is More has the theme Up Up and Away!  I had been making a card for my friend who is turning 80 later this week, so I made another card using the same Stampin' Up! stamp set, Celebrate Today, to make my card for this challenge. Very simple - just a bright Colourbox chalk ink, some coordinating paper and a die cut - I thought this would be great for a young boy, just needing the required age numeral.  Thank you Anne for reminding me to use this set - there is so much in it! My friend's card is too 'filled in' to qualify for CAS, but I still think it has the simple lines I favour.  A lot of spongeing in this card - the background striped paper, the balloons and the tag, all SU products.  The adornments on the balloons were heat embossed (you MUST dry your sponged card before you do this!!) with Ranger platinum ep, as was the card I used to cut out the numerals.  So shiny in real life, believe me!  Oh, and if you're thinking this is

Splatters

This week, the Less is More challenge is a one-layer card with Splatters!  What fun! So here is my card - A very CAS one for me, but I just love the difference the large script Hello has made to it.  Inks and splats are by Stampin' Up! and the butterflies are from SU Butterfly Basics.  That special hello is by WPlus9 stamped in Versafine Black Ink.  I feel I'll add a small 3D butterfly before I'm finished with this card, but for the LIM challenge, I'm doing my best to keep it CAS lol!

Scrapbook Boutique - Heartfelt Creations flowers

Image
Hi there - I have a flower card created from Heartfelt Creations Botanical Rose Bouquet stamp set over on the Scrapbook Boutique Blog - please check it out first, as I have another card featuring the second stamp in this set here on my blog.  I meant to have it posted a couple of days ago, but have been tied up a bit as my youngest grand-daughters have been visiting for a week, and we have been 'so busy'!!  I'm just now tidying up loose ends, as they returned home today. This card uses the smaller floral arrangement, with similar dp and another journal card from the Kaisercraft collection - Captured Moments:  Sparkle.  This image has been white heat embossed, and then watercoloured - a totally different look, but still feminine and pretty. Speaking of my grand-daughters, Lucy (8) and Georgia (7), they have kindly allowed me to showcase their cards on my blog.  Using some sweet stamps by Kaisercraft, and my 'fairy markers'  (aka Copics) here are their cards (p

Scrapbook Boutique April Blog Hop and Challenge

Image
Hi there!  Welcome to a new blog hop and challenge at Scrapbook Boutique! There are two ways you can enter to have a chance to win in this challenge:  you can comment on each blog participant, ending with the SBB blog, or you can create a project (either a card, scrapbook layout or off the page project) inspired by this photo.  Please check out the rules of entry, and the prizes at the  Scrapbook Boutique Blog .  Of course you can participate by entering for both prizes, but remember, this challenge is only open to Australian residents. You should have arrived here from  Angela's  blog. Here is this month's inspiration picture Don't those swirls of chocolate and sprinkles look divine?   Here is my take on the inspiration.... After some delusional efforts at re-creating those swirls, I focussed on the fact that the cakes were layered - one cake on top of another, and decided to layer my cute critters in the same fashion.  They are from the La

Mostly Black

This week's colour challenge at Less is More , sponsored by Clearly Besotted - love their products!! - is Mostly Black!  I must admit, being rushed for time, I thought the predictable, and chose to make a sympathy card. I used a new flower die by Ultimate Crafts which cuts and embosses beautifully, cutting it out of the white base panel and from black script paper, which was re-inserted into the negative space.  At the last minute, I gently coloured the rose with Copics - just a hint of colour, because frankly, it was too sombre!  I'll look forward to using this die with other colours - a whole bunch of them (with leaves trimmed) would make a lovely Mothers' Day card mmmm!
