Paper Hugs

Back to Less is More with their current challenge which is to use a frame. On watercolour card, I die cut the tulips from Memory Box 'Stitched Tulips' die, coloured them with Zig Real Brush Clean Colour Markers, and cut out the frame by Liabilities - Scroll Oval.  I had to reinsert the cut pieces - tulips and leaves, and left the frame in place too - so the frame is quite subtle.  I popped the oval piece up with foam and adhered it to a top fold card, sponged with soft pastel (Spring) colours.  The sentiment is from a set by Apple Blossom included in a magazine. (Simply Cards and Papercrafts Issue 153)

The challenge at LIM this week is to use washi - how lucky for me that yesterday I tried CASEing a card I saw on Etsy which used a single wooden button on a small notecard.  I didn't use a wooden button, but a die I've had for ages, with WASHI on cardstock - - woo hoo! So I'm ready early today - Sunday morning here in Australia, with temps in the 30s! Cardstock cut 18cm x 9cm for a top fold 9 x 9cm (3.5" x 3.5") Stamp is a freebie from Cardmaking and Papercraft Issue 165 - love the fonts Die is by Simon Says Stamp - Partial Cut Flowers Button die is a set of 3 by Joy! Crafts Washi - unknown origin but printed cloth tape about 1.5 inches wide Below are a couple more cards I made using washi.

Just a short post to enter the current challenge at Less is More  which is a One Layer Card with the subject Leaves. I first saw this technique on Brenda Keenan's blog, where she had one leaf, with the tree outline from Sheltering Tree stamped inside the leaf stencil.  I loved it immediately and copied her idea to make thank you cards a-plenty.  For this card, I have used two leaf shapes, but the same tree branches inside it - I love the colours, so rich and autumn-like  - which it is in Australia right now!  I used only three distress inks - mowed lawn, abandoned coral and seedless preserves.  The sentiment is also Stampin' Up! - Endless Thanks.

Quick post to show this wedding card I've made for a friend who is the mother of the groom.  She has been asked to 'do' the flowers - 3 bridesmaids, one bride and the table settings - and she has to travel to Canberra (from Melbourne).  Naturally, she is delighted the bride has asked her to participate so fully - what a great start! The stamp here is by Penny Black, but I don't know the name, as it belongs to a friend, but I love the elegant simplicity of its lines.  I immediately thought of my friend (mother of groom) and so have made it the wedding card.  The lovely sentiment is by Clearly Besotted. It is a long card, so I needed to make a custom envelope, which I coordinated to the card.  The initials of the couple have been gold embossed, and the contrast panel is by Memory Box - Flicker Hearts. I hope it is acceptable!
