July Blog Hop and Challenge at Scrapbook Boutique

Wow!  It is July already, and so another Blog Hop and Challenge at Scrapbook Boutique!

There are two ways you can participate in this fun challenge, and have a chance to win a prize:  you can comment on each blog, ending with the SBB blog, or you can create a project (either a card, scrapbook layout or off the page project) inspired by this photo.  Of course you can do both for a chance to win both prizes!  Please check out the rules of entry, and the prizes at the Scrapbook Boutique Blog and note that this challenge is only open to Australian residents.

You should have arrived here from Angela's blog.

Here is this month's stunning photo inspiration - so beautifully feminine, and Olde Worlde, isn't it?

Well, I'm not very good at the vintage style, but I still wanted to use those delicate colours to create a feminine card, so this is what I came up with:

I have used My Favourite Things stamp set:  Scribbled Flowers for my flowers, white heat embossed onto watercolour paper, so that I could colour them using Distress Inks (Worn Lipstick for the pink, and Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and Shabby Shutters for the soft green).  I coloured one flower at a time, using clear water to wet the area to be coloured and allowing drips to fall down.  I was concerned not to allow the colours to blend into each other, in case they would make a muddy mess, but towards the end, and gaining in confidence, I did blend over the sentiment, without disaster!  My girly sentiment is from Paper Smooches stamp set:  Little Lady.  To complete the card, I embellished with tulle flowers, punched flowers, small pearls, a few sequins and some lace.  The little felt pink rose was made using MFT small rolled rose die.  The small edge at the bottom of the card was stamped with a border from Mama Elephant's 'Modern Borders'.

I have a second card today, also using the Scribble Flowers - I was having so much fun with them, that I decided to use a different technique on this one.  Again, I heat embossed the scribbles as before, but this time I used inks to stamp the solid image behind.  They looked like balloons to me, so I added strings (using the stems included in the set) cut out my panel using Stitched Journalling Card by Lawn Cuts, and sponged the green and pink inks onto spare card stock to cut the little banner from the same die set.  This was mounted onto the stitched rectangle from Mama Elephant's Basic Die Set.

There are many more images in this stamp set, so stay tuned to see more examples in the coming days.  I'm sure you will find as much to love about this set as I do!

From here you will head to  Judith's blog

Good luck everyone!
