Quick and easy cards using Sunrise Lily paper

Image
Over at Scrapbook Boutique Blog I have a card featuring the Sunrise Lily Wishes stamp set, with a glimpse of this card below. However, I loved the papers that are in the Sunrise Lily 12 x 12" paper collection so much that I decided to make some 'extra' cards with these papers, just to have in my stash.  Nothing added to this card front other than the sentiment and an extra lily.  Nothing but the sentiment on this one .. the inside features the lovely paper too plus the lovely verse. No layering of paper required, because this paper includes some card fronts ready to use ....  and lastly another inside shot. So quick and easy - a first for me, but good fun! Hope you have a chance to see my other card on Scrapbook Boutique, as there was a little more work in that one ha ha! Thanks for visiting and happy crafting!

Colour challenge - pastel shades

Image
This week's challenge at Less is More is to use pastel shades in a CAS style. I have always loved pastel colours so this week I'm very happy - here is my card, and a few more that I just had to make!  This was the first card I made for this challenge, but had to leave the sentiment off - lack of planning on my part!  Inside, I stamped my latest favourite:  'Sending hugs and happy thoughts' from an Altenew stamp set - Beautiful Day.  The pastel pink butterflies are cut from paper from the Cocoa Vanilla collection - 'Free Spirit'. This card is now my favourite and is the one I selected to submit for the challenge.  It also has room for a sentiment!  The pastel blue butterflies were cut from a watercolour card I had coloured with Distress Inks.  The glitter mat and one butterfly are the only accents. This card is much smaller at 4" x 4" and holds fewer butterflies, but I am often finding I need little note cards like this to send t...

Scrapbook Boutique May Blog Hop and Challenge

Image
Welcome to another blog hop and challenge at Scrapbook Boutique - this month it is based on this amazing mood board! You should have arrived here from  Angela's  lovely blog. What a beautiful collection of images, celebrating motherhood, new babies and all things girly! I just love to make 'new baby' cards, and was inspired by the little ballet shoes and dress to embellish my card with the tulle ribbon.  I also loved the metallic letters, but thought silver was a softer option than gold with pink, so kept to the silver dots on my pattern paper, as well as the silver twine.  I created my own background with a little strip of hearts from a Lawn Fawn set called Into the Woods.  Now for a close-up, to catch that sparkle! I hope you are inspired to create something after seeing this mood board and if you do, or if you just want to join in, there are two ways you can participate in this challenge and have a chance to win a prize.  You...

Happy Mothers Day

Image
Just a very quick post to wish mothers everywhere a very Happy Mothers Day!  I have made cards for my two daughters and daughter-in-law, each one of them loving mothers to their families - and hope they enjoy their special day.  Here is one of those cards: I have used Peony bouquet by Altenew for the stamp, which is a 3-4 step process.  I used one of the layers as a soft background panel, and used 3 layers for the flower.  I took advice from Therese (not given to me personally of course, but on a video tutorial - linked here ) and stamped the solid colour first, then the detail layer and then I could add the shading layer much more easily.  Thank you Therese for all your great hints!  I'm still using limited supplies, so made the most of the inks I had - a mixture of pink and red here.

Lucky Dip - Cats!

Image
The new challenge at Less is More is a lucky dip - to use pattern paper.  As this challenge is always about Clean and Simple pattern paper is often overlooked, so I am happy to be able to use some of my considerable stash of paper this week! So here is my card: I don't know the manufacturer of this gorgeous cat paper, but I loved the fact that the cats were in horizontal rows, rather than being scattered over the page.  I just cut a strip, mounted it on a black mat, and adhered it to a complementary coloured card.  This will be going to a friend who has had recent surgery for skin cancer on her face ( I know a bit about that!) and she adores cats, with two Siamese of her own.  I hope this card cheers her up as she recovers Just had to try to capture the texture and glimmer!
