Faeries

It's been a while, but here I am back again, as I have gone fairy (faerie) mad!  For the Scrapbook Boutique's blog today, I have a card featuring a fairy, and I thought I'd post more of my faerie creations here on my blog - you may find something to inspire you to create with this small die - it is The Graceful Faerie by Memory Box!

For my first card, I began with watercolour card and Ken Oliver's Color Burst pigment powders.  If you haven't tried these before, you are in for an amazing experience!  You simply sprinkle the concentrated powder onto your watercolour card (or you can wet the card first, then sprinkle, but I do prefer the first method).   If you start with dry card, then spritz with water and watch the magic!  Your colours will explode and run all over the card - the resulting patterns are what makes this technique such fun!

I thought of these faeries as dancing in the night sky, so masked out a moon, before colouring the card, then removed the mask and sponged with Distress Ink, to fill in the moon.  I added splashes of white acrylic paint, very much watered down, for stars or fairy dust!  My sentiment here is from Feathers stamp set by Hot off the Press.  The scalloped edge is a die from Mama Elephant Basic Set.

The background for this card has been coloured with Distress Oxides, sponged over white card, with splotches of sparkle snow added when dry.  I've glittered the black faerie, and sponged the white sparkle foam of the second faerie with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.  The dandelion flower border is by Apple Blossom.

My final card has a versa mark stencilled background - Bamboo Leaves by Kaisercraft - and is then sponged with Distress Oxides - Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade, Cracked Pistachio and Broken China.  The sentiment is from Waffle Flower stamp set Starry Night.
