Watercolour vase

Watercolour techniques are everywhere at the moment, and I am loving them!  As a total novice at anything 'arty', I love that the supplies needed are not expensive and in fact you can use inks etc that you might already have.  Just buy some true watercolour paper, and some sort of brush or aqua painter, and you can start to create some amazing effects  The challenge at Less is More this week is just that - use water to move your colour - so I am entering a card I have made - my very first watercolour card - which I created following a tutorial by Dawn Wolesagle from WPlus9.  I didn't have the stamps she used, but I did have another WPlus9 stamp set, called Folk Art Florals, so I had a 'go'.  I love the result, but of course, need to practise a lot more!  I'm showing it here, just to be part of this challenge.

 
I used Distress markers for the colour, just scribbling them onto an acrylic block and spritzing with water to dilute.  The sentiment by Simon Says Stamp is stamped in Versafine Vintage Sepia.

Something Shiny

We all love shiny things I think, so this week's challenge at Less is More is a JOY!  Here is my card, which will add to my Christmas stash. Hard to see the shine, but the next view might be better. I die cut the Joy to the World Wreath by Cheery Lyn, and inlaid it back into the white card front.  It seems to suit the CAS style better this way.  The shiny sentiment is cut from silver mirror card, mounted to self adhesive foam - as you can see in the shiny photo - no messy glue to spoil the effect! Wonderful News

The challenge at LIM this week is to use washi - how lucky for me that yesterday I tried CASEing a card I saw on Etsy which used a single wooden button on a small notecard.  I didn't use a wooden button, but a die I've had for ages, with WASHI on cardstock - - woo hoo! So I'm ready early today - Sunday morning here in Australia, with temps in the 30s! Cardstock cut 18cm x 9cm for a top fold 9 x 9cm (3.5" x 3.5") Stamp is a freebie from Cardmaking and Papercraft Issue 165 - love the fonts Die is by Simon Says Stamp - Partial Cut Flowers Button die is a set of 3 by Joy! Crafts Washi - unknown origin but printed cloth tape about 1.5 inches wide Below are a couple more cards I made using washi.
