Scrapbook Boutique May Challenge and Blog Hop

Welcome once again to Scrapbook Boutique's monthly challenge and blog hop.  You should have arrived here from Angela's amazing blog and inspiration, but if you didn't and want to start at the beginning, just click on the SBB blog link above and start again!

Now to the housekeeping part - if you want to create something or just join in to win, there are two ways you can participate in this challenge and have a chance to win a prize.  You can comment on each blog, ending with the SBB blog, or you can create a project (either a card, scrapbook layout or off the page project) inspired by this photo.

Of course you can do both for a chance to win both prizes!  Please check out the rules of entry, and the prizes at the Scrapbook Boutique Blog and note that this challenge is open to Australian  and New Zealand residents.

I do apologise for a fairly heavy photo content today, but as I was creating, I thought you might like to see progressive steps - I'm not claiming any sort of expertise, of course, but I do love colouring,  especially now with watercolours, and if it helps to inspire someone else, then I'm happy!

So using my Misti, I coloured the Penny Black red rubber stamp with Distress Markers - in Worn Lipstick and Brushed Corduroy, and stamped this onto heavy watercolour card.  You can see what a difference it makes to NOT stamp an outline first.

With a better idea of the image, I went back to my stamp and added the same colours in places I thought they needed more colour definition.  This time, I very lightly misted the stamp with water.  As the image took shape, I used a few different colours, such as Spiced Marmalade, Forest Moss, and Peeled Paint.

I did this step many, many times - sometimes just focussing on one flower or leaf, until I was satisfied I couldn't (shouldn't)  add any more to it.  When it was completely dry, I painted the background.

Of course, while I was creating, I didn't stop at one attempt, but did three - so below are my other two cards.  The sentiment is from Altenew stamp set:  Beautiful Day, and the drops are Nuvo drops.  The last two panels were die cut with shapes from Avery Elle Custom Panels, and the first with the scalloped border by Spellbinders.  I left the background white on these, and like the crisper look.

I hope you have as much fun as I did, being inspired by this beautiful mood board, and I
can't wait to see what you create for this challenge - each month the entries are just amazing and we love to see how everyone seems to take something unique from the mood board.

Now you should hop on over to Linda's blog to find out what she has created to inspire you!

Thanks for visiting and happy crafting!
