Scrapbook Boutique October Blog Hop and Challenge

Welcome once again to Scrapbook Boutique's monthly challenge and blog hop.  You should have arrived here from Angela's amazing blog but if you didn't and want to start at the beginning, just click on the SBB blog link above and start again!

Here is this month's beautiful mood board to inspire you.  Isn't it just gorgeously full of glam and glitz!

Now to the housekeeping part - if you want to create something or just join in to win, there are two ways you can participate in this challenge and have a chance to win a prize.  You can comment on each blog, ending with the SBB blog, or you can create a project (either a card, scrapbook layout or off the page project) inspired by this photo.  Of course you can do both for a chance to win both prizes!  Please check out the rules of entry, and the prizes at the Scrapbook Boutique Blog and note that this challenge is open to Australian  and New Zealand residents.

Inspired by the gold and shimmer, I opted to create a sparkly wedding card - foiling a stencil of hearts over pink card stock, and using Deco Foil Gel and heat activated foil sheets.   A simple sentiment and cake (from the Penny Black stamp set 'Tiny Treats') for adornment is all that was needed to finish.

I couldn't resist adding another view, just to show how lovely those hearts are.  I am impressed with how easy it is to achieve this look with the Deco Gel - if you haven't seen this process before, this is what I did:

  • Use a palette knife to cover the stencil with the gel - trying to keep it consistent in depth.  The gel has a very soft consistency, like warmed butter.  Scrape off excess and return it to the jar and wash the stencil and knife immediately.
  • Put the stencilled card aside to dry until clear - I usually leave it overnight, but it isn't necessary to leave it that long!
  • When totally dry lay the foil on top, with pretty side facing up.  Place card and foil inside a carrier sheet - I used baking paper - folded in half like a folder.
  • Run this through a regular laminator - which has been heated at least 15 minutes - this seems to ensure the foil seals onto the gel.
  • Remove from the carrier sheet and gently peel the foil away - and admire your lovely shiny card!

Now you should hop on over to Linda's blog to find out what she has created to inspire you!

Thanks for visiting and happy crafting!
