SNSD March Release and a Zed fold card (or two or three)

Sweet n' Sassy Digi stamps have just released some gorgeous block flower images - Daffodil, Magnolia, Lily and Tulip - Spring is coming, right?  Their challenge this week is to make a Z-fold card using these beautiful images and sentiments.  I must admit, I have never made this particular card before, but it is a really simple fold.  I used 11' x 4.25" for my card base, folding at the centre mark (5.5) then at the quarter mark for the front fold to the back (2.75").  The finished folded card remains a standard size 4.25 x 5.5 inches.

Here are my finished projects - a lot of colouring involved, for which I used Derwent Inktense pencils, which are very easy to use, but you could just as easily use Copics, regular pencils or even print these images on patterned paper, or leave them black and white.

Using the daffodil image first, I coloured it, then using a paper mask of the image to cover my colouring, I sponged the white background with Shabby Shutters Distress Ink - a lovely soft green.  The middle section inside is covered with designer paper, but in a muted tone, allowing a personal message to be included.  I chose a contrasting colour for the back section which includes the greeting.

For the small amount of background behind the magnolia, I continued to use my Inktense pencils, just blending the colour out to the edge.  Inside, I have mounted one of the Be Encouraged sentiments onto a Spellbinders floral oval, and embellished the bottom of the card with a scalloped edge, using a SNS small scallop.

My final card uses the lily flower block, and for this I used regular colour pencils, with just a touch of H2Os for highlights.  Again I used the small scallop for the back edge, and inside I cut one of the Decorative Plaques by SNS - these plaques are so useful for mounting sentiments or small images.  This card is a little more whimsical, with chirpy birds and a leaf flourish added from my stash.

Now it's your turn to see what wonderful cards and projects you can create with these lovely flower blocks - try the Z-fold card for something really different.

  2. I think you liked this release as much as I did! You've been quite busy. :) All three cards are so pretty. I can't decide if I like the daffodil or the magnolia one the best.

  3. Really gorgeous coloring of all three images, Ann! Lovely designs with each as well. Yes, my Z fold easel card stands by slipping the image panel into the slit which was punched at the top of the card. Thanks for stopping by to comment!!

  4. Delightful array of cards, Ann. Being a butterfly lover, the cards with the butterflies are my favorite. Great shading on the flowers.
