June Blog hop and challenge

Welcome once again to Scrapbook Boutique's monthly challenge and blog hop.  You should have arrived here from Angela's amazing blog but if you didn't and want to start at the beginning, just click on the SBB blog link above and start again!

Here is the mood board for this month - isn't it RICH?

Now to the housekeeping part - if you want to create something or just join in to win, there are two ways you can participate in this challenge and have a chance to win a prize.  You can comment on each blog, ending with the SBB blog, or you can create a project (either a card, scrapbook layout or off the page project) inspired by this photo.  Of course you can do both for a chance to win both prizes!  Please check out the rules of entry, and the prizes at the Scrapbook Boutique Blog and note that this challenge is open to Australian  and New Zealand residents.

So here is my card -

I was thoroughly taken with the rich, lush feel of the mood board, and created this black and gold confection, using lots of gold embossing powder and black and cream card.

I wanted the focus to be the striped panel, but to highlight that I used a simple flower in contrasting cream, also with gold edging.

Some more pics to capture the shine of the gold :)

Card recipe:
Card in black and cream
Stamp:  Altenew: Amazing You - flower and sentiment.  Also a straight line stamp from my stash, used for the stripes
Dies:  Mama Elephant Basic die set for the stitched rectangle, small hearts and the banner, Lawn Fawn: Stitched Journalling Die for the larger hearts
Ink:  Versamark
Embossing Powder - gold by Ranger

To start, I had to stamp the stripes to emboss - and for this I used my Misti, to ensure all the stripes were even and straight!  I placed the strip stamp in the centre of the top plate, and my paper lined up with a line on my grid paper.  After each stamp, I simply moved my paper up (or down) to the next line on the grid paper - I did half at one time, then embossed, then completed the other half in the same way.  I think it turned out perfectly!  I used black fun foam to pop this up on my cream card.

Next, I stamped and heat embossed my flower onto cream card, and fussy cut this out.  I used mounting pads (fairly thin foam) to adhere to my striped panel.

Finally, I stamped my sentiment onto black card, heat embossed it in gold and cut it out using the banner die. This die has scoring lines and I folded these to obtain a very realistic 3D banner.

For additional heart embellishments, I swiped a small piece of black card with Versamark, gold embossed it and then cut out the hearts from this matching gold, using small dies.

I hope you find something to inspire you too, from this mood board and the team's creations!  - I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Now you should hop on over to Linda's  fantastic blog to find out what she has created to inspire you!

Thanks for visiting and happy crafting!
