Scrapbook Boutique April Challenge and Blog Hop

Welcome once again to Scrapbook Boutique's monthly challenge and blog hop.  You should have arrived here from Angela's amazing blog but if you didn't and want to start at the beginning, just click on the SBB blog link above and start again!

The challenge for this mood board is to use monochrome plus one colour - something really different for me - how about you?

Now to the housekeeping part - if you want to create something or just join in to win, there are two ways you can participate in this challenge and have a chance to win a prize.  You can comment on each blog, ending with the SBB blog, or you can create a project (either a card, scrapbook layout or off the page project) inspired by this photo.  Of course you can do both for a chance to win both prizes!  Please check out the rules of entry, and the prizes at the Scrapbook Boutique Blog and note that this challenge is open to Australian  and New Zealand residents.

Here is what I came up with for monochrome plus one - a combination of white, grey and black, plus teal.

One stamp set - Concord & 9th 'Just Because', and a MFT Mixable stencil called Cascading Scallop.

I started by white heat embossing the leaf image twice onto white card - then sponged them with dark grey ink before wiping ink off the white embossing.  Then I fussy cut around the leaves and highlighted the detail of them with a white Signo pen.  This really lifted it!

The white panel was sponged with grey ink through the stencil, making it slightly darker towards the bottom.  This was trimmed to 10 x 14cm.

The two sentiments were white heat embossed on black card, trimmed to fit, and adhered to the card.  My larger sentiment strip was long enough to wrap around the white panel, so I left it like that, supporting the middle section with a strip of foam adhesive.

The sketchy heart is also from this stamp set, stamped in teal ink, and covered with Glossy Accents.  It was also popped up with foam dots.

The black card base is a top fold card measuring 14.5 x 10.5cm.

Thanks so much for visiting and I wish you very happy crafting in the month ahead!

Now you should hop on over to Linda's blog to find out what she has created to inspire you!
